About Enniscrone Golf Club
A meeting in 1918 marked the formal beginning of golf in Enniscrone Golf Club and though, like many of the Irish links style golf courses, it has been extended, modified and improved, it quickly built up justifiable popularity with much of the Irish golf community. In 1974, the Enniscrone Golf Club Links were extended to 18 holes on a design prepared by the great Eddie HAckett, retaining the natural appearance of the dunes yet blending and shaping holes through them whilst interfering very little with the natural surroundings. The rolling sand dunes which seperate the sea from the golf course form the perimeter and shape the character of the exceptional golf links, which is playable year round.

Use of the dunes has now enabled the Enniscrone Golf Club to spread its wings to 27 holes with Donald Steel being the architect of the new holes. Adoption of some of the old holes that were relinquished together with development of three new ones on adjoining land, enabled a significant expansion that brought with it significant playing conditions.

What has been said ...
"Enniscrone is a spectacularly beautiful golf course - an undiscoverd gem of a links in the far North West of Ireland, a golf course with some amazing holes" - Peter Dobereiner

"The New holes are typically links in character set amongst towering sand dunes and rugged marram grass rough. The six Completley new holes are split between two nines. After the new second introduces the golfer to the stunning views of Killala Bay the 3rd & 4th take the course back to the existing holes. The new 14th, 15th and 16th holes provide a glorious return to the coastline with splendid views." - Donald Steel
