About Dromoland Castle Golf & Country Club The golf course at the Dromoland Castle Golf & Country Club is a captivating test of golf surrounded by the wonders of the Irish countryside. In 2003 the golf course was carefully redesigned and updated by renowned architects Ron Kirby and J.B. Carr. The design team adapted much of the traditional vision and integrity of the original John L. Wiggington layout. The 18 enchanting holes sweep delightfully through 410 acres of shady woodland, open rolling pasture, feral lakes, streams and the ever present magnificence of the 16th Century baronial Dromoland Castle presiding over the estate.

The critics are more than happy with the results of the reformation at Dromoland Castle Golf & Country Club. The new golf course layout has blended old Ireland golf with modern Ireland golf in seamless fashion. The 7th hole overlooking the lake and Dromoland Castle has been retained with its magnificent views from the tee boxes. The 11th is a double dogleg commencing with a tee shot requiring the golfer to carry over 200 yards of marsh and ending in a tight approach shot to a green bounded by wood, lake and heavy fescue. The 18th is a par five off a tee box that is again set in marshland with a carry of over 190 yards needed to clear another challenging tee shot.
